ABOUT THE TOWN

A quiet, small, tight knit town, within the Big Basin Redwoods State Park. Powerful magic wards protect it from the non-magical world, allowing it to act as a safe haven for any magical, mythical or monstrous being.

It's a small town where it seems nearly everyone knows everyone else, and it’s an easy town to get the lay of the land in. Outsiders are always welcome though; you can easily get a fresh start and build yourself from the ground up here.

Below, you can find more in depth descriptions of key areas of Belarive, matching the numbers seen on the map above.

KEY PLACES

  1. Radio Station-
Home to all of your news and music in Belarive, the radio station is just about the only one in service due to the isolation of the town! Whatever is played is up to your (one and only) host, Charlie! There’s a variation of things that are played throughout the day, but you’re always guaranteed to get the forecast, and any important events going on in the town.

  2. Shelley Apartments-
One of the largest apartment complexes in town, able to house plenty of monsters - while remaining the most affordable! Perfect for independent college students, single monsters, or small families. NO LARGE OR MEDIUM SIZED PETS ALLOWED. (So if you have one, be sure to keep it hidden from your landlord!)

  3. Stoker Island-
A small island just off the shore of town. Stoker island is popular in the summertime, as it hosts summer camps for all ages.

That’s not so much the case during wintertime, and finding passage during the off season can be difficult due to a lack of boats. (Though not impossible, given you know how to swim!)

While it does have a lighthouse, no one has seen its keeper in years.

  4. Mall-
The most popular place for just about everyone to go shopping! The mall is always a hub of activity, whether you’re looking to get the newest and trendiest clothing, an overpriced soft pretzel from the food court, or just going window shopping with your friends. Mall rats, freaks, and geeks are all welcomed here!

  5. Tell-Tale Flats-
While the building is smaller, monsters that live here will find themselves with much more legroom than the Shelley apartments. Pets of all kinds are allowed here, given you clean up after them!

  6. Businesses-
This is the larger business district in the town. Here you’ll find places like grocery stores, the mechanics, and a larger department store. It’s the go-to place for anything you may need to find quickly; such as clothing, food, tools, and more!

  7. College Campus and Dorms-
The local college is home to many different types of classes that are available to anyone who enrolls! Anyone and everyone who lives in town is welcome and encouraged to enroll with the college, and on-campus housing is provided to those who aren’t permanent residents within Belarive.

The campus has classes going from roughly 6am to 12am to accommodate for all walks of life within the town.

  8. Elementary and High Schools-
Due to the small size of the town, all students under college-age share a small campus of buildings that’s home to students elementary through high-school age! The school year typically runs from mid August through late May.

  9. Residential-
The residential area in Belarive is filled with many small and quaint houses, ranging from tiny one bedroom houses to large two story houses. They’re a perfect place for anyone looking to settle down into their own place outside of the apartments or dorms!

  10. More Businesses-
Small boutiques and cafes make up this portion of the town. This is where most of the locally-owned small businesses can be found! The main street area is very easily walkable, and provides an excellent opportunity to pop in and out of all the local shops for some shopping or a nice meal!

  11. Town Hall-
The heart of the city, and the place where the mayor spends most of his time. Town Hall meetings are hosted monthly on every second Tuesday - with free coffee and cheese danishes to those that pop in to voice their opinion!

  12. Community Center-
The Community Center is a place that can be rented out to citizens for various events that include but are not limited to; gatherings, meetings, parties, and other things! A daycare for people to drop their young children off is also available here.
